Index Your Files

Index Your Files does just what its name points out: it analyzes your PC and indexes the files on it; you will be prompted to do so the very first time you run the application. There is a very simple reason why this application indexes your files: once it has an index, it helps you quickly and efficiently find any file you want. Just provide a few search paramaters, initiate the search process, and the application will display a list of results.

Index Your Files is available as an installer (download an executable, run it, follow the instructions presented by a setup wizard) and as a portable version (download an archive, extract the executable inside, run it). You can use Index Your Files on pretty much any Windows edition. And you can use the application in one of several supported languages – Italian, French, Chinese, Bulgarian, and so on.

There are two main tabs on the application’s interface, up in the left hand corner:
Search – enter the search parameters, launch the search process, view a list of results, preview a selected file.
Index Menu – view a list of databases, add and edit databases, import and export databases, delete a database, relaunch the indexing process.

The first time you launch Index Your Files, the application will ask to index the files. Allow it to do so and wait for the indexing process to complete – it should not take very much time. Once the application is done indexing your files, from the user friendly interface you can search for any file you want. This is a simple 3-step process: enter the search parameters, launch the search process, browse through the search results. A preview window will help you go through the list of results and find the file you want.
